Absence

Absence

It has been too long since I last posted and it might seem like I am neglecting my blog but the answer is ‘NO’. Our absence doesn’t always dignify us falling behind or missing out, but gives us that space we need to reboot our mind and body. Instead of getting lost in this crowded world, with our packed schedule, it always feels like a breath of fresh air to stand still, allowing us to use that moment to figure out the balance of our own priorities.  While you might know the importance of your priorities, there is no neglecting when it comes to your passion, because passion travels beyond everything else to be your purpose and to bring happiness. You might need to stand still and take a break once in a while but you will always come back to it.

Black Lace up Boots, Chix (similar)

Now, back to today’s outfit… Even though it’s pretty casual it's always a great idea to add little accents that reflect your personal style. I might have mentioned it in most of my posts and I stand by this choice of starting most of my looks with basic pieces. Today I started with a basic black top and built it with other black pieces. When choosing all black outfit, I always love to go for different prints or textures like this grainy cardigan. I think it builds up to an interesting silhouette.  For bottoms I went for classic black skinnies and finished off with black lace up boots and this hat. I also added a leopard/snake printed backpack to add print to the look. I hope you like it!

New Vision

New Vision

The few weeks have been a real struggle for me to keep things together and this definitely starts from my sleeping pattern, my daily routine, my goals and my blog. It’s fascinating how change can come in many forms in our lives and sometimes gradually starts changing everything else, except for the things that we value. The strength of having values is when they are clear to us; our decisions become even clearer. Even though change is often difficult, often it’s also for the best. Accomplishing anything great in life requires significant change that pushes us beyond our comfort zone. When we are willing to step outside of our comfort zone when we need to, that’s when we discover so much more about ourselves, a whole new world - a world of our own vision.

Black Basic Top, Primark
Black Suede Boots, Ebay
Scarf, Topman

My outfit today definitely portrays that change; honestly, wearing faux fur is a big change in my style as well a big step outside my comfort zone. This is the first time I am wearing a faux fur jacket so I didn’t know I was in for a treat - it's the warmest thing ever! Again, wearing leopard print is another big step for me so I really am a step closer to a new vision of discovering new style (if that makes sense!).  For underneath and bottom, I went all black, including a black scarf as no one will even notice underneath that big coat. I also thought the leather works quite well with the leopard print. I finished off the look with pair of black boots and my Ray Ban glasses. I hope you like it.

Minimalist

Minimalist

Recently, I’ve been writing down my thoughts, experiences and things that inspire me in my day-to-day life. Doing so really helped me narrow down my own path; what I need, recognising the changes and the growth of our own opinions. This has also helped me to live in a more minimalist way. When people say they are minimalists, that doesn’t mean giving up on important things, but letting go of things that you don’t need and using that minimalist thinking to your own advantage. Minimalists search for happiness not through things but through life itself. Thus, its up to you to determine what is necessary and what is superfluous in your life. The whole idea is that you have the only things that you need. Sometimes certain situations in our life, thoughts in our head, or clothes / shoes in our closet or just things in our room tend to take that extra space. But the question we have to ask is do we really need it?

I have used a minimalist theme in my outfit today, just because I thought this is all I need for a casual day. Turtlenecks are quickly becoming one of my favourites to warm myself up without needing a scarf, and also just to wear as a casual top. I love wearing it with any skinny jeans really, but today I chose to wear it with light blue skinnies just to add some brightness on the look. I finished the look with my cutout shoes, which is no surprise because I literally can’t stop wearing them! I hope you like the look.

Looking Back

Looking Back
Not all of us get happy thinking about what we went through in the past or in life, but it is so important to look back and see not so amusing situations that once we were in, that road we have walked, with smiles or in tears, plagued by obstacles or with rewards. Our understanding of our own life is to be able to see and read the chapters of our own experiences and circumstances, recognising that we are the end result of these experiences. Whether it's good or bad, every situation gives us a new lesson or makes us see our own ability either to stop ourselves in time, to be happy and content with what we have at that moment, or push boundaries to achieve what we want to or what could be better for us. There are no right or wrong decisions, but a situation we can either make an opportunity or lesson out of.  Through these understandings, we will be able to go back to visualize our own experiences and decisions, seeing how far we have come, how much we have grown as an individual and creating who we have eventually come to be. It’s always worth reading these chapters that created our own book - honestly it would be a fascinating read.

I had so many beautiful experiences, great lessons and accomplishments in 2014 but today I am looking back at my personal styles. So here are some of my favourite outfits from 2014. You will be able to see how I have evolved and see the transformation of my personal styles. I hope you like the looks as much as I had fun doing them.
Which one is your favourite?

Details

 Details

The past few weeks have been pretty hazy trying to sort out some personal issues, hence the reason for my absence. I guess at some point, everyone needs some time alone to figure out what it is that we are looking for and what we’re working towards. I guess what I am trying to say is that, no one is given a certain path in life and we have to find that ourselves. Even though we might feel lost sometimes, we can always take time alone to really ask ourselves and understand what it is that you want to do, and then walk towards it.

Cutout heels, New look

Now going to my outfit, I managed to find this amazing jumpsuit in sheinside. As you can tell by now, my obsession for cutouts and any details in general, well this one piece features both of them. This literally has everything - from cutouts, mesh details at the front and that gorgeous gold chain around the neck, so who is going to be bothered to wear accessories after that? This just oozes with elegance and became my definite choice for the New Year (by the way, I am pretty late but this post was from new year!). I also did my hair up to keep the details on show and kept the accessories quite minimal too. I finished the look with my cutout heels. I hope you like it!

Comfort over anything

Comfort over anything

If you ask me anytime, I would say ‘comfort over anything’. So today, I am bringing out my most slouchy, comfortable and cozy items, which have been perfect for this gradually building colder month.

The things I look forward to in this colder season are just coming home, wrapping myself up in a big duvet or blanket and just watching telly with a hot mug of coffee or tea. Oh, how you find happiness and comfort in just doing simple things - and I tend to realise this more in winter. Anyway, my point is, today’s outfit is all about that, except you will be walking around all snuggled up instead of staying in. I do believe - no, I know for sure - that I felt that warmth, comfort and coziness in this outfit over the past few days. And coffee? Well there is always a place for that. Today I went for this chunky, woollen, high neck oversized jumper which was perfect for me to add more layers underneath. And guess what? I actually did add another black jumper underneath! I paired my jumpers with these khaki harem style trousers, which again had enough space for me to wear warm leggings underneath. Yes, winter is all about layering and being a walking cushion, which I was when I end up adding another coat at the end. I finished off the look with my maroon boots. I also decided to go for a similar colour palette and have found it quite interesting lately. I hope you like the look.

Hint of Berry

Hint of Berry

I will be honest and say that sometimes the easiest thing to do in life is just picking out black and white clothes, well for me at least! It’s not always easy to work the colour palette all the time and this is when I have my easy access and my monotones - and the good part is that I can get away with this timeless trend.

OMG T-shirt, Topshop (sold out)
White kimono blazer, Primark (similar)
Black sleeveless leather jacker, Primark (similar

When it comes to limited palette, it’s always better to work in layers and textures. I believe that way, it visually creates interesting silhouettes. And today was the day for them. I started with a basic white t-shirt, with black letters ‘OMG’... and OMG this is actually one of my favourite t-shirts, even though only the 'M' is showing in the picture. I layered my long Kimono blazer to build up the shape and my sleeveless leather jacket to again add different texture and edge to the outfit. The long white blazer perfectly shows the division of shades with my black skinnies - just what I was going for - as well as demonstrating the level of different textures. I added a hint of berry to give just a bit of colour to my look, which I chose to finish off with black Chelsea boots. I hope you like the look.
