Goodbye winter!

Goodbye winter!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a great week. I know mine was pretty crazy and productive at the same time. My food and drink intake has dramatically increased this week though. Well, I can hardly blame it on anything other than weather when it's this good! However, I am planning to keep it in control now because I am flying to Venice next week, which I have been insanely looking forward to. I will also be taking lots of pictures in Venice so stay tuned for that.
I put together today’s outfit as a perfect ensemble to say goodbye to this dark, cold winter and welcome these bright, sunny summer days. Even though my love for the monochrome palette will never fade, I am actually very excited about adding bright colours to my wardrobe. I decided to keep my turtle neck on for one last time, add my key summer piece - this Topshop playsuit - and finish the look with my black knee high boots. For my accessories, I kept it simple with just my Michael Kors watch. I hope you like the look!

New Vision

New Vision

The few weeks have been a real struggle for me to keep things together and this definitely starts from my sleeping pattern, my daily routine, my goals and my blog. It’s fascinating how change can come in many forms in our lives and sometimes gradually starts changing everything else, except for the things that we value. The strength of having values is when they are clear to us; our decisions become even clearer. Even though change is often difficult, often it’s also for the best. Accomplishing anything great in life requires significant change that pushes us beyond our comfort zone. When we are willing to step outside of our comfort zone when we need to, that’s when we discover so much more about ourselves, a whole new world - a world of our own vision.

My outfit today definitely portrays that change; honestly, wearing faux fur is a big change in my style as well a big step outside my comfort zone. This is the first time I am wearing a faux fur jacket so I didn’t know I was in for a treat - it's the warmest thing ever! Again, wearing leopard print is another big step for me so I really am a step closer to a new vision of discovering new style (if that makes sense!).  For underneath and bottom, I went all black, including a black scarf as no one will even notice underneath that big coat. I also thought the leather works quite well with the leopard print. I finished off the look with pair of black boots and my Ray Ban glasses. I hope you like it.

Hint of Berry

Hint of Berry

I will be honest and say that sometimes the easiest thing to do in life is just picking out black and white clothes, well for me at least! It’s not always easy to work the colour palette all the time and this is when I have my easy access and my monotones - and the good part is that I can get away with this timeless trend.

OMG T-shirt, Topshop (sold out)
White kimono blazer, Primark (similar)
Black sleeveless leather jacker, Primark (similar

When it comes to limited palette, it’s always better to work in layers and textures. I believe that way, it visually creates interesting silhouettes. And today was the day for them. I started with a basic white t-shirt, with black letters ‘OMG’... and OMG this is actually one of my favourite t-shirts, even though only the 'M' is showing in the picture. I layered my long Kimono blazer to build up the shape and my sleeveless leather jacket to again add different texture and edge to the outfit. The long white blazer perfectly shows the division of shades with my black skinnies - just what I was going for - as well as demonstrating the level of different textures. I added a hint of berry to give just a bit of colour to my look, which I chose to finish off with black Chelsea boots. I hope you like the look.

Reversible

My past few days have been crazy. My food intake recently should have put me in a coma but then, hey, it was the Nepali festival time so I couldn’t really ignore the good home cooked food. I really enjoyed getting busy celebrating it with my family and friends and I do feel guilty not posting on my blog for past week but now I am back to my normal routine. So it will be ok.

It’s becoming colder as the days go by so I am really looking into winter essentials and that’s how I came across this blanket / scarf. Squares, checks and tartans are autumn’s definitive prints and I can never get enough of them while styling since they are one of the most timeless fashion trends.
I loved how this scarf is reversible; I can wear it as a red tartan print or the black and white check one or I could mix both. I also loved that it’s so huge and feels like you are walking with a blanket wrapped around you.
For the bottoms, I went for these skinny jeans that fit me like gloves. I loved the fact that they're high-waisted because I really do live for them. I paired the jeans with a textured crop top, which has a far thicker feel and is warmer than I expected. I completed the look with lace up boots. I hope you like the look.

Similar Differences

Finally, I have discovered the amusement in working with different textures. It’s really interesting to play with different consistencies to come up with a fascinating ensemble.
I always come back to the basics when it comes to layering so I started with a basic black vest. Since it’s a little bit chilly today, I decided to bring out my quilted jacket. What I love about quilted jacket is that they are not just warm but I find them quite elegant with a practical edge. I feel snug and trendy at the same time. I also like the quilt textures; I think the hard and edgy consistencies make it an interesting piece to have in your wardrobe. I decided to pair the jacket with something softer like this chiffon skirt. I think the contrasting textures and similar colour palette add an unusual yet interesting and daring move to the outfit.
I decided keep hold of that edgy vibe with these mock suspender tights and black boots. I hope you like the look.
