Cuts & Slits

It's been a while since I last posted on my blog - my sincere apologies for that - but on the bright side I felt the glimpse of sun in the morning and that was good enough for me bring out my cutouts. By the way, this was shot a few days ago when the sun was out a little, but now its cold and raining again.

If you read my blog, you know that I am obsessed with cutouts details - I wear them at every chance I get and this was the day to match it with the slits. For my outfit, I went for a plain black top with shoulder cutouts, as I always find them damn sexy ;) I paired it with a black and white print maxi skirt that I got on sale. I love the Aztec print and the fact that the fabric falls nicely and has that fitted feel, so that there is no worrying when the wind blows. It also has slits on both sides, which I think adds that extra flair just incase the top fails. I finished the look with my cutout boots and a silver necklace. I hope you like the look.

Neon Accents

The weather has been really confusing this winter. When I finally raided my wardrobe for winter clothes, there was a sudden heat wave for the past few days and now I am hearing that the storm is coming too so it's always a smart idea to keep the essentials in your bag. On my look today, it felt warmer so I kept the umbrella and cardigan in my bag because as they say you can never trust London weather.

Just because Autumn / Winter tends to be dark and gloomy doesn’t mean the outfit has to be too. I’m sure many of us have put away our bright clothing in exchange for the winter darks but the neon trend is not just for summer. Wearing neon in winter is not as tricky as you might think, but you might have to tone it down a notch. Also using neon as an accent is a great start and that’s what my outfit today includes - just a hint of brightness contrasting with darker shades. I paired this yellow/lime neon top underneath the leather top and black leather leggings. This definitely made the neon colour pop a lot more. I kept the shoes, top and leggings matching with leather accents and finished the look with a grey bag and my silver statement coin necklace, which I love at the moment.

STRONG TEXTURES

When I saw my collection hanging on the rail, it reminded me of one of my greatest achievements… seeing it on the show with my name up on the screen 2 years ago was one of the biggest moments of my life. And today, I bring that essence back styling it in my personal style.

Strong Textures plays an important role in adding a statement to an outfit and this gold texture was it for me. When I saw this fabric in Paris, I instantly pictured it on one of my designs, walking blazing the gold down the ramp. It was the dream fabric for me. This fabric was a lot less complicated to work with than my other fabrics. When I finished making it and saw it on the show, I loved the fact that it was rich in texture and colour, it was bold and it was one of my statement pieces. Today I styled it with another texture oriented piece, a pleated skirt. I think the masculine silhouette on top worked quite well with the playful pleated skirt. In terms of colour palette, black and gold as a combination is captivating and a trend that has encompassed the fashion world. I added a mock up suspender to keep the power and edge on the outfit. I finished the look with a pair of lace up boots. I hope you like the look.

DARK GLAM
The weather has been really miserable and gloomy, so in keeping with this pathetic fallacy I decided the darker concept should reflect in today’s look, but in a glamorous way.

I’ve always been fascinated by Dark Glamour, to be able to portray beauty against all odds in its own mysterious way, which is as interesting as it is truly beautiful.  For my look today I wore this khaki high neck crop top with one of my favourite maxi skirts. The fun part about this skirt is that it has two slits at the front, which I added myself, and yes I bared the cold showing legs to emphasize the slits. These also accentuate that dark sultry feel to the look. I am wearing my new favourite shoes, which are the most comfy shoes ever. I love wearing dark lips in winter, so I kept the make up darker and added a headpiece to exaggerate the glamorous touch. I hope you like the look.

Reversible

My past few days have been crazy. My food intake recently should have put me in a coma but then, hey, it was the Nepali festival time so I couldn’t really ignore the good home cooked food. I really enjoyed getting busy celebrating it with my family and friends and I do feel guilty not posting on my blog for past week but now I am back to my normal routine. So it will be ok.

It’s becoming colder as the days go by so I am really looking into winter essentials and that’s how I came across this blanket / scarf. Squares, checks and tartans are autumn’s definitive prints and I can never get enough of them while styling since they are one of the most timeless fashion trends.
I loved how this scarf is reversible; I can wear it as a red tartan print or the black and white check one or I could mix both. I also loved that it’s so huge and feels like you are walking with a blanket wrapped around you.
For the bottoms, I went for these skinny jeans that fit me like gloves. I loved the fact that they're high-waisted because I really do live for them. I paired the jeans with a textured crop top, which has a far thicker feel and is warmer than I expected. I completed the look with lace up boots. I hope you like the look.
